Students with a B.S. degree in nursing can practice in different work settings such as hospitals, clinics, and public health. They are prepared to deliver care in a number of areas such as emergency rooms, medical , surgical, oncology, or palliative care. They have had experiences in mental health, rehabilitation, and specialties such as obstetrics, pediatrics or gerontology. BSN graduates meet the qualification to work in the VA system or as military nurses.

The education they get at CSU Channel Islands prepares them to take the NCLEX licensing examination. The preparation at Channel Islands also prepares them for entry into a master’s program that prepares nurses for clinical practice in the hospital or advanced practice roles such as nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, nurse anesthetist, and administrators in primary and acute care.
